Obama's IRS has crossed the line, but this is completely getting swept under the rug.It's no surprise that Obama's allies in the liberal media aren't reporting on it, but I'm shocked at the lack of uproar from our allies in the Republican Party!
Obama's IRS has sent letters to dozens of Tea Party groups across the country demanding they justify their status as non-profit organizations. They've demanded they lay out detailed information on their activities and that they disclose the names of their donors! This is not relevant to their non-profit statuses and is clearly meant for targeted political retribution!
This is nothing but Chicago-style intimidation, and I don't know about you but I'm LIVID! This country is built on the basic tenets of freedom: freedom of speech and association. Obama's IRS, by attempting to punish conservative groups, is undermining not only the integrity of his office but the very fabric of our constitutional liberties.
This is why we're providing legal counsel to the small, local groups who are facing this unprecedented intimidation. The laws surrounding non-profit groups and political action are complicated and often ambiguous. In face of these demands, many local groups could be forced to close up shop - and we refuse to let that happen!
