Senators offer legislative remedy for unfair trade

In a bipartisan show of agreement, Ohio Sens. Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman are sponsoring a legislative fix to a court ruling that the senators say harms Ohio heavy industry subjected to unfair trade from nations such as China.

‘Contraception’ amendment derailed as Ohio Sens. Brown, Portman split votes

The so-called Blunt amendment to a transportation bill on the floor of the U.S. Senate, which would permit employers or health insurance providers to deny coverage based on their faith beliefs, was defeated 51-48 Thursday, as Ohio Sens. Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman split their vote on the controversial measure many said was a tragic distraction because it had no place being inserted into a bill more about job creation than about what anyone’s creator thinks is right for the right of women to decide what’s best for them and their bodies.
