However, what is called a private sale is legal in quite a few states.
In other words you could place an ad in the paper and sell the weapon directly to the other citizen.
It has nothing to do with gun shows, it is legal for anyone in the states where it is legal.
The gun show garbage being attached to it is simply for propaganda purposes as the law for them is no different, yet.
Private sales happen all the time, I have bought and sold countless guns through private sales.
The lie is that what is being pushed is “People Control” under the false name of “Gun Control”.
Since “Gun Control” meaning keeping guns out of the hands of criminals is impossible, the Brady Bunch Idiots prefer to disarm the LAW ABIDING CITIZEN and thereby provide a safe job environment for the criminal to ply his trade, safe from worry about being met by someone who prefers to remain alive himself.

here in michigan, you CAN buy long guns at flea markets, yard sales , news papers ect. with no paper work .You can not however sell or buy hand guns this way. You must get a purchase permit from the sheriffs office to do so, even for a private sale. In my area of the state (s/w corner) their has been no real issues on giving out our CPLs if you follow the guide lines and you have no criminal record. The local police departments are awesome at teaching the classes you’ll need and are in support of and armed society. GOD Bless America!!! and Michigan!
In many states, private party sales are perfectly legal. The Federal govt leaves it to the individual state. So, yes you can buy at a garage sale. Yes you can advertise on the internet, Ie Back page, Gun broker,. etc. You can not sell to a person from another state however. The person has to reside and have a state issued ID from your state. I can’t help so many of you live in a state that is communistic. Take California, the most communistic state in the union. I lived there for years and left. I chose not to be part of the insanity. Yet they keep voting in the same representatives. They keep getting the same results. You guys need to learn the laws and not make assumptions. Knowing gun law is crucial. I’ve only had a gun, once, a rifle many years ago. An impusle purchase, as it was a Gold trimmed replica of a Winchester lever action.
But now, I find myself wondering if I should get a hand gun for myself and the wife, and CCW for us both.
Sad it’s come to that, but at my age, I couldn’t physically protect myself for more than a minute or 2 against a younger person. Zero of course if they were armed. My area is pretty safe, for now, but roaming thugs aren’t far enough away from me. Tragic I even have to think of this subject.
Blue Collar Man……If you feel even a little that you and yours may be in danger, don’t even hesitate. Purchase a handgun that both you and the wife can handle and learn how to use it. Better yet, if you can afford to do it, buy each of you a gun, join a local gun club that has a range and practice, practice and then practise some more. The CCW class will give you the particulars of the law and will build confidence in your ability to use the gun if it ever comes to that. Hopefully it won’t, but as the Boy Scouts say, “BE PREPARED!!

You can’t impeach a Usurper (A Fraud) proven by his release of a Fraudulent Birth Certificate, he is a Criminal, so all that needs to happen is the Military Commanders just need to march into his office and put his entire administration into chains and put them in a Federal Prison for not upholding their “Oath” to the Constitution and being a Fraud. All of his policies will be reversed, Obamacare gone, his Judges to the Supreme Court gone, his Czars gone, Pelosi, Reid and the rest of the congress that have sold this country to the Communist are in the same prison with the above group. We need to put the pressure on High Military Officers that you may know, unless “Martial Law” is declared before the election, then the American (We the people) will take care of the issue once he declares it. I don’t think it is legal to sell guns at the places you have mentioned and I sure would not want to buy one that way , and have it traced back to me somehow and it turns out to be a murder weapon.
It is in certain states. Here is the deal. NO felon is allowed to own or have in possession a firearm of any type. Whe you sell privately, you ask, are you a felon. If you do not get an immediate response, you know they are a felon and don’t sell to them. You also might want to ask them if they have a restraing order against them for domestic violence. Another constitutional violation but never the less the law. If you ask these two things, you have done your due dilligence. Check your state law, it may be different than mine.
Caron, it may not be legal in your state, but it is in mine. I go to gun shows, have bought on e-bay, and from private individuals. Check your state laws, don’t speculate.
What a great article. I have a few guns that I have had for years. I am now going to buy more ammo and a few more guns so I will be prepared when the inevitable happens because of this President. Every decent law abiding citizen should purchase one or two guns for their home protection.
Seems you have little faith in true gun owners ,lovers and users. I’ve had multiple guns since Iwas 18 years old and have never used one in a criminal action and never will. Now if it comes to defending my family ,home or even myself I will not hesitate to use these guns for the purpose of defense. How ever, do not be deceived—any one who dosent know the value of individual life and liberties (with responsibilities) can be provoked out of self control. Anyone that believes murder is a way of life should never be allowed to have a gun, knife or even a base ball bat , If you get my meaning? It is not only the flash mobs or the street thugs we are concerned about. It is the rogue government with the tyrant despot at the top that has our attention. Obama’s anti-gun sentiments and alliances with the Brady stooges has us worried about massive gun grabs and disarmament regualations at a time that more than any other is marked by tyranny more dire than anything King George ever thought of doing to the early colonists. Between him, the illegal criminals being welcomed into our republic, the declaration of war by hoffa Jr. and his and obama’s union thugs and the muslim islamic and shariah purge at work in our nation and our courts, only a total fool would live in the U.S.A. today without arms and ample resources to continue to exist in the face of such evils. With arms registrations, coming ammunition registrations and tracking measures, draconian gun laws and the muslim islamo-facist in the White House combined with White House controlled federal government owned judicial and other government authority, it is not only the enemy at the gates we have to worry about, but also and more immediate, the enemy from within; the tyranny run federal government. If our government stood for its citizens and acted according to the peoples wishes that choose to ignor. You would not have any of this happening. With the violence taking place by several unions and the Hoffa saying they need to take out the tea party–What else can the normal conservative do? Because all those in the conservative tea party do not wear tea party tatooed on their forehead. That put all who do not agree with the unions or Obama at risk. And the smart are reading between the lines.
People I know have been buying guns and a lot of ammo since Obama took office and the economy went into the tank. They are primarily fearful of anarchy and the resultant roving mobs that will invade your home, take all your food and water and any valuables they can see and probably kill you in the process. They are also fearful of the government trying to disarm its citizens and allow thug armies (ala Cambodia, et al) to rule. These thug armies may be under the direction of the president and they may not be.
These people I know mostly buy their guns at garage sales, estate sales, yard sales, flea markets, and ads in the paper so there will be no paper trail. Ammo they buy at the dealers, watching for sales. It is just a matter of time before we will be fighting in the streets just like any other third world country.
At this point, who ISN’T on the “social tit?” Even farmers are getting paid by Uncle Sam not to grow food. Gotta laugh at all these survivalist-types who think they live in protective bubbles. How well did white farmers fare when Mugabe took power in Zimbabwa?
