Email your Senators right now
HB 2289 will create an independent redistricting commission so Supervisors will more accurately represent their more conservative districts

This Senate hearing is starting in a few minutes, but it's not too late to email the Senators involved and urge them to support this important bill. This bill will stop Republicans like the current Maricopa County Supervisors from getting elected, the kind of Supervisors who never saw a grossly inflated government project they didn't want to approve, or a conservative politician they didn't want to attack and steal power from. Liberal Republican Paula Pennypacker, who doesn't like the Tea Parties, wrote this in theArizona Republic this about it, which means it must be a good bill:

The bill would take the county boards of supervisors out of the business of filling legislative vacancies and put it into the hands of the radicalized, partisan precinct committee members who cling to every word of Senate President Russell Pearce. This bill is red meat for those on the far right as six members resigned last session.

URGENT LEGISLATIVE ACTION ITEM FOR HB 2289 FOR 9:00AM THURSDAY 3/24:

Your immediate action is needed to help get HB 2289 through the Senate Finance Committee. This bill will create an independent redistricting committee for county boards of supervisors with 5 districts. This bill is vital to get county boards to more accurately reflect their predominately conservative constituents. Right now, district lines in many of ...the larger counties are skewed to represent liberal interests through gerrymandering. With this bill, the county board of supervisor district lines will be redrawn with an independent committee.

To Voice Support Please:
- ATTEND the Senate Finance Committee Hearing, Thursday, March 24th at 9:00am to show support OR
- GO TO THE CAPITOL TO LOGIN to ALIS any time before the bill is heard tomorrow morning to voice your support.
**I have been informed by insiders that the comments on ALIS are VERY effective (more so than calls or emails)**

For more information about HB 2289: http://www.azleg.gov//FormatDocument.asp?inDoc=%2Flegtext%2F50leg%2F1r%2Fsummary%2Fs.2289fin_strikermemo.doc.htm&Session_ID=102

Please spread the word! The County Boards of Supervisors from across the state will be there in strong OPPOSITION. We need to rally the troops to back this important bill.

If you cannot get to the Capitol, please politely contact the key committee members to let them know you support the bill (they may already be planning on voting YES):
Sen. Gould, (602) 926-4138, rgould@azleg.gov
Sen. Klein, (602) 926-5284, lklein@azleg.gov
Sen. McComish, (602) 926-5898, jmccomish@azleg.gov
Sen. Bundgaard, (602) 926-3297, sbundgaard@azleg.gov
Sen. Yarbrough, (602) 926-5863, syarbrough@azleg.gov

FYI, you can apparently no longer comment on bills through ALIS from home, you must go to the Capitol to make comments on ALIS.
