Hostess Brands Inc. lived to die another day.

The maker of Twinkies and Ding Dongs said late Tuesday that it failed to reach an agreement with its second-biggest union. As a result, Hostess plans to continue with a hearing on Wednesday in which a bankruptcy court judge in White Plains, N.Y., will decide if the company can shutter its operations.

The renewed talks between Hostess and The Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union came after the company declared last week that it would move to wind down its business and start selling off its assets in bankruptcy court. The company cited a crippling strike that was started on Nov. 9 by the union, which represents 30 percent of Hostess workers.

If it wasn't for the unions they would still be in business and twinkies would still cost 99 cents.

El Groupo Bimbo, a Mexican corporation has already bought Mrs. Bairds Bread. They just through buying Sara Lee. I am betting that this was a done deal a long time ago. Executives with Hostess have already lined up the bribes and kickbacks. And El Group Bimbo will be buying them out too. You are looking at the Mexicans forming a monopoly of the BREAD business.
It is also VERY suspect that the union did not give in rather than have ALL of their union members lose their jobs. In this economy, a cut in pay is better than NO JOB AT ALL. Unless, they have already been assured that El Groupo Bimbo will guarantee the jobs and the union cutting a bigger portion out of the members check.
They used to call it corruption. Then they changed the name to NETWORKING. It is still the same thing.

Let's be real, it does not take a real baker to make HO HOs or Twinkies. These PhkngClowns put themselves out of a job.

Texas is a right to work state. You do not have to belong to a union to
work. I can’t figure out who in their
right mind would want to belong to any organization that just about guarantees to
throw you out of work periodically or in this case permanently.

See my comment above. You are not being told the whole story. Watch and see if El Groupo Bimbo does not wind up with Hostess too. The Mexicans are taking over the bread business. And the sheeple, union bakers probably had NO say so in this contract. Bimbo will buy Hostess. The Hostess executives will have GREAT big golden parachutes. The stockholders will get NOTHING. AND the bakers WILL take a bigger cut in pay than the contract their union bosses turned down. When they get hired back at lower wages by the Mexicans, they will BE FORCED to pay even BIGGER union dues to the thugs that sold them out.

I am telling you that there is more to this that they are NOT telling you. The unions, Hostess, and El Groupo Bimbo were working together. And the bakers took the beating.
