The Madison Project

Team Madison-

The political year begins in earnest tonight with results from Super Tuesday rolling in. Even as I write, Rick Santorum is leading Mitt Romney narrowly in one of the most critical states in a Presidential election: Ohio. Elsewhere, Mitt Romney has capture Virginia, Vermont and Massachussetts while Newt Gingrich carried his home state of Georgia. As I try and read the political tea leaves, one thing is clear-Republican primary voters are hoping for something more. I think we are also drawing closer to the possibility of a brokered convention which means the Republicans will not be choosing a nominee to run against Barack Obama until August.

In other races, the Club for Growth endorsed our candidate in the Nebraska Senate primary, Don Stenberg. This is great news for Don as he continues to pick up momentum

I also want to encourage you to donate to Don Manzullo, the incumbent in Illinois-16. Due to redistrciting, Don is in a tough primary against a Congressman Adam Kinzinger, a member of the Mainstreet Partnership, the group of liberal Republicans in the House of Representatives. A staunch, fire tested conservative, Don needs all the help we can give him. We have already cut a check for his campaign-will you join us in your support for Don? You can either give here through the Madison Project or directly to Don's campaign here.

As we do each week that Congress is in session, here isThe Madisonian, our legislative bulletin. I hope it has kept you informed as well as engaged in the process!

And as I have done the last few weeks, I leave you with The Best of Daniel Horowitz. Enjoy!

1) Where do you think most liberal Republicans come from? Believe it or not, they don’t all represent the northeast. In fact, one of the most conservative states in the country has one of the worst Republican congressional delegations. Guess which one. Please read more here

2) Last year, Republicans put forth some much-needed reforms when they passed the Ryan budget. Unfortunately, they jettisoned all of its virtues for the ridiculous “Budget [out of] Control Act that was passed as part of the deal to raise the debt ceiling. Now, as we await the FY 2013 budget, some Republicans are talking about a preemptive surrender on the budget. We mustn’t let them. Please read more here

3) While most of the political commentators are focused on Congress and the presidential race, Obama is busy packing the courts with radicals. In the coming weeks, the Senate will attempt to confirm another Alinsky radical to the already extreme ninth circuit court. We must hold Republicans accountable for letting these nominees slip through the confirmation process. Please read more here

For Liberty.
