The Madison Project

Team Madison-

I wanted to send you a quick update. We're winning on the Highway Bill.

As you know from Daniel's blog posts and the Madisonian, it has been a central issue for us. The House Repulbican Leadership knew it too which is why Daniel spent hours this week in Speaker Boehner's office debating the bill with his staff. If you didn't see it yesterday, Speaker Boehner has delayed a vote on the Highway Bill. Anytime leadership delays a bill, it usually means one thing: they are losing support for it even as they whip votes. Chalk this up as a win. If anything changes, we will keep you posted!

Also, I forgot to add the Best of Daniel Horowitz in my earlier email this week. It is below.

The Best of Daniel Horowitz

1) Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg told an Egyptian TV station that she would not use the U.S. Constitution as a guideline for the new Egyptian government. She would use the South African constitution instead. And she sits on our Supreme Court! This underscores the need for Senate Republicans to oppose Obama’s radical nominees to federal courts. Please read more here

2) Planned Parenthood is anti-choice. They vociferously oppose any efforts by charitable organizations to remain neutral in the battle over abortion. They are not merely pro-choice; they champion abortion. They also make some nice money off abortions as well. Please read more here

3) Rick Santorum won a sweeping victory in last week’s primaries, but turnout was very disappointing. What does that mean for conservatives? Please read more here

4) Republicans are capitulating again. They are supporting a highway bill that will engender future bailouts, preclude devolution of transportation authority to the states, and will force tax increases to cover the deficit. All but 9 Republicans in the Senate voted to raise taxes on IRAs! Please read more here

For Liberty!
