Exposed: The truth about insider trading in CongressInbox x
Dec 7 (1 day ago) | ||||
From the Desk of: December 7, 2011 Jack, It was a little-known Congressional loophole that allowed lawmakers to trade and profit on insider information received in hearings and private meetings – insider trading that would land the rest of us in prison. Not so with Congress. According to conservative author Peter Schweizer’s just-released bookThrow Them All Out, members of Congress from both sides of the aisle are aggressively taking advantage. Predictably, the liberal media are portraying this as a Republican scandal, where the truth is that this scandal has both parties equally represented. NewsBusters.org’s own Noel Sheppard just interviewed Schweitzer about his book, and the scandal that he says has come about because “politics is becoming a business. It’s becoming a growth industry … you’ve got more money to hand out and you get access to more market-moving information, you can get rich.” Click here for the full interview.
+ + Liberal Media Only Implicate Republicans Although Schweitzer contends Congressional insider trading is a bipartisan problem, the liberal media certainly don’t see it that way. For example, a 60 Minutes segment used cherry-picked examples to focus on Republicans ‒save for former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. This gave the erroneous appearance that this was indeed a Republican problem. That simply isn’t the case. Click for the NewsBusters report on how 60 Minutes intentionally deceived its viewers. Ironically, Schweitzer says that far-left leaning media outlets like Huffington Post, Think Progress and Media Matters all attacked him for implicating Nancy Pelosi, whose trading shenanigans are a well-documented matter of public record. Instead of reporting on the misdeeds of the entire Congress ‒Republicans and Democrats alike ‒and exposing the Congressional double-standard and blatant hypocrisy that is rampant on Capitol Hill, the Obama-controlled liberal media outlets circled the wagons and attempted to cover-up and focus blame on the greedy GOP. + + Demand the Media Tell the Truth about the 2012 Election Jack, the American citizens rely on major media outlets to provide them with credible, honest information and portrayals. But, as we can see from the Capitol Hill insider trading scandal, the liberal media are less interested in reporting the truth and more committed to preserving and protecting Obama, his friends and his re-election campaign. Americans deserve the truth, and the liberal media must be held accountable when they fail. Jack, they are failing -- hopelessly so, and we are counting on you to stand with us by clicking here and signing our petition demanding honest election coverage. With your petition in hand, MRC officials will hold the media accountable -- exposing their bias and their distortions.
