Officials' bullying of student stirs national outrage!X

Mathew Staver, Founder and Chairman 1/27/2012 This is now a breaking national news story: Brandon Wegner, a 15-year-old Wisconsin student was bullied, censored, punished, and ridiculed for writing an op-ed article explaining the Biblical view of homosexuality and supporting natural mother-father adoption. It turns out the main actors in this travesty were people in authority over Brandon and his schoolmates – his high school principal and the superintendent! Under the guise of enforcing the school’s “anti-bullying” policy, Brandon was set up for humiliation and school officials intended to “make him an example.” But Liberty Counsel is now representing Brandon and – mark my words – this outrageous situation WILL be set straight! Please read my very important message and legal update – Mat. Jack, Americans are understandably outraged over this incident. Media outlets are seizing upon the story because the facts are nearly unbelievable. In case you missed it, here is what happened: While participating in one of his school’s news writing courses, and under the supervision of a faculty sponsor, Brandon teamed up with a fellow student to produce a “point-counter-point” column for the school paper on the subject of “homosexual adoption.” And, without his parent’s knowledge, Brandon was called into one meeting after another, causing him to miss study time for exams and even missing an exam. Brandon was then hauled before the school superintendent who told him that the column he wrote “went against the bullying policy.” Superintendent Todd Carlson asked Brandon to recant his views, and when he would not, told Brandon he was “ignorant” for having his belief, and then said, “We have the power to suspend you.” This is an outrageous case of a misguided school official abusing his authority and trying to make an example of a student – a student who was actually in the right all along! Liberty Counsel is now representing the Wegner family and sent a strongly worded letter to the school’s leadership and School Board members DEMANDING an apology for its unconstitutional and irrational censorship of Brandon’s article. http://www.libertyaction.org/ Under the guise of stopping bullying, the ACTUAL bullying at Shawano High School was perpetrated by Superintendent Todd Carlson and his subordinates – certainly not our client!
