Newt Halts Liberal Media on ‘False’ Story

Newt Gingrich denied claims by his second ex-wife Thursday that he once asked her to agree to an “open marriage,” kicking off a presidential debate in South Carolina with a fiery defense of his personal life.

“The story is false,” Gingrich said.

The former House speaker was asked about a pair of interviews his ex-wife Marianne granted in which she leveled the charge about him seeking an open marriage – at the time, Gingrich was seeing Callista, whom he later married.

Gingrich confronted CNN moderator John King, who posed the question about Marianne’s claims at the very top of the debate.

“I am appalled that you would begin a presidential debate on a topic like that,” Gingrich said. “To take an ex-wife and make it, two days before the primary, a significant question in a presidential campaign, is as close to despicable as anything I can imagine.”

He added, “I am frankly astounded that CNN would take trash like that and use it to open a presidential debate.”

Doesn’t this strike some of you as being really strange? Why is this woman coming out now? Who is behind this, and what is she getting in exchange for smearing Newt Gingrich? Seems funny to carry a grudge this long and not to honor or respect the requests of their even for their daughters who oppose it, to let it rest. And what about the news media…have they no sense of ethics? This is WICKED. May what she and they that are sowing this farce find it coming back to them ten fold!

Way to go Newt for having the balls to tell it like it is and your correct that the smear of men and women keep good men and women from running for office. WAY TO GO NEWT.

What if they are not so good? The left is still being nice, they haven’t even started playing nasty with Newt yet. That’s why they want Romney so it doesn’t have to get so ugly, but if we give them Newt then here is some of what they have waiting for him.

I’m not saying anything in there is true but when has the truth ever been something a liberal considers when they want to smear someone. The TV commercials will be relentless once our nominee is picked and they will be designed to destroy whoever our candidate is, and their is little opportunity to put a moderator in his place during a commercial. Newt did that very well, I might add.

Did anyone else notice Ron Paul seemed to be outside all the attacking that went on last night?

Look the neo-left is going to ruthlessly attack any conservative who gets on the ticket…best there is a strong person to take them on and knows how to win a sword fight in the battle of words. Newt has a mean streak and this is good. He also is the only one up there with a quick mind and knowledge to anticipate what is coming his way.

I did and I’m happy about that. I really don’t like when the debates devolve into something you’d see on one of those reality shows – this is the office of the President these guys are vying for and I’d appreciate a little more decorum because ‘honor and dignity’ is definitely something Obummer has taken away from it. That’s why I really wasn’t pleased with how Newt handled John King’s question. One can be forceful without being beligerant. Newt acted more like a bully than a leader, in my opinion. King was right, it was news and splattered all over the internet and had to be addressed. I really thought it rather considerate that he got it out of the way first thing instead of sneaking it in in the middle of the debate. King is a news guy and it was news. Reagan would have probably made a joke out of it – Reagan was always so good at turning an uncomfortable situation into something funny and lighthearted. But Reagan was personable and had presence; I find Newt’s arrogance extremely offputting.
That said, I think the CNN debate was much better than the Fox debate and I don’t even like CNN. I liked that they took questions from the audience. They didn’t seem like ‘plants’, either. I like audience participation during debates.

Newt is a bully and he gets mad pretty easy which are part of his personality. We’ve been told we really shouldn’t consider those factors when assessing our candidates, but it is kind of important. I’m pretty scared of the thought of Newt as president.

Like the liberal media is going to give any of the conservatives an easy ride. They need to be able to throw it back in the medias face, and show them that if they want to play the one sided game it will come back and destroy them. And we need to hold the media accountable by contacting CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, and all the rest when they ask dumb questions. And when the ask Obama easy ones that don’t hold him responsible. Enough is enough.

          • That is loser mentality if I ever heard one! It doesn’t matter which candidate is chosen for the GOP do you think for one minute they will not try every nasty trick in the book, true or not?! That is a very naive viewpoint! I think it’s about time people start speaking out openly about the bogus liberal media and these ridiculous questions as if these questions only pertain to the GOP candidates. Do you think for one minute that ocommie is going to get any tough questions?! Good for Newt like him or. Of his response was long over due!!!

Yes, Romney didn’t, and has never attacked. Last night, when asked to comment on the Gingrich story, he said, “Let’s get on with the issues.” Good for Mitt. Too much of a gentleman to be in with this pack of wolves.

          • Nick says:

It is refreshing to see someone stand up and exosed the mainstream media for what they are. It will be wonderful to have a President who will not be manipulated by the media. If anyone is a bully in this country, it is Obama’s administration and the mainstream media. Even Fox is trying to coerce people as to how they should think and who they should pick. They pretend they are reporting the facts so that viewers can make a choice. What a lie. Fox has a lot of right positions but there tactics are becoming more mainstream every day. They want to make our decisions for us. No, the spin does not stop with them.
