Jack,
As you may know by now, the conscience rights and religious freedoms of pro-life Americans are under attack like never before.
President Obama, the most radically pro-abortion president in our history, has issued a mandate forcing all employers to provide free abortifacients, contraception, and sterilization to their employees under their insurance coverage.
In an unprecedented overstep the President is even forcing religious institutions—like hospitals and universities run by the Catholic Church and others—to violate their essential beliefs and teachings.
Fortunately, our pro-life leaders in the House and Senate are fighting back.
Pro-life rockstar – and close friend of the SBA List – Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) has introduced a bill to protect the freedom of conscience of pro-life Americans and religious institutions.

Jack, this is a breach of our 1st Amendment and conscience rights such as we have never before seen. And make no mistake: if President Obama and his cronies think they can force pro-life Americans to be complicit in the distribution of abortifacients and contraception, it will only be a matter of time before coverage of all forms of abortion are also made compulsory.
This is a critical moment in our nation’s history and in the pro-life movement.
“Who decides?” used to be the slogan of the raging pro-abortion feminist movement as they advocated for a women’s so-called right to choose. But with this abortifacient mandate, President Obama asserts that it is the government who decides –government decides what a properly formed conscience looks like.
We must not stand for this, Jack.

As the keynote speaker of our SBA List annual dinner last week, Senator Rubio spoke passionately as he encouraged us to remain vigilant in the battle for Life. He called the right to life a “definitional issue… a basic, core issue that every society needs to answer.”
