Liberty Counsel As you know all too well, there is an overt movement in this nation based on the vision of the Obama Administration, the ACLU, and other leftist organizations – supported by the liberal media – to remake America into a socialist, Big-Government, limited-freedom, anti-life, anti-marriage, pro-homosexual, weak nation that constantly apologizes for its heritage. Liberty Counsel’s vision is to “Take Back America” by restoring our nation’s core values, love of freedom, individual responsibility, sanctity of life and marriage, and our Christian heritage. In 2012, one vision of America will win and one will lose. That is why we are calling the upcoming year “America’s Year of Decision.” Please read my urgent message below – Mat.
The countdown to determining our national destiny has begun. I have been anticipating 2012 for some time. Several pivotal events over a period of many years have brought the United States and the other nations of the world to a climactic point in time. I am convinced that the next several months will literally determine the destiny of America and the future of Western Civilization. Threats to American sovereignty, to life, to liberty, and to the foundational institution of the family loom over us this year. By the end of 2012, we could be surrounded by dark clouds or we could finally see the sun begin to shine – the choice is ours to make. ++Dramatic threats to our economic survival hang over our heads. As the New Year begins, we are faced with a stark reality: If federal spending is not deeply slashed, America will not survive. The national debt now exceeds $15 trillion. One trillion is a one followed by 12 zeroes. One trillion seconds equals 31,546 years, which means that it would take 473,190 years to tick off 15 trillion seconds! Can you now begin to grasp the magnitude of our debt crisis? During the three years President Obama has been in office, the national debt has increased by nearly $5 trillion. This kind of profligate spending is totally unsustainable! The actions taken in Congress on fiscal matters and what Americans like you and I do at the ballot box in 2012 will literally determine if America will survive. We enter this pivotal year living on financial life support. This debt crisis is a “clear and present danger” to both our national security and to our economic survival. ++We also face escalating threats to life, liberty, and morality. ObamaCare is the biggest expansion of the federal government since the New Deal and is perhaps the single greatest legislatively-enacted threat to America’s core values in our nation’s history. Liberty Counsel filed the first private suit against ObamaCare on the same day it was signed into law. I was the first person in America to argue it was unconstitutional at a federal court of appeals. Liberty Counsel will soon file an important brief before the High Court on this landmark issue. The fate of ObamaCare will be decided by the Supreme Court no later than the end of June. If ObamaCare is upheld, we will face serious threats to our liberty. In addition to abortion, a recently enacted ObamaCare regulation now requires most religious organizations to provide birth control coverage along with abortion-inducing drugs. Liberty Counsel will not rest until ObamaCare is gone, either through the court challenge or through repeal by the legislature! In the three years of the Obama administration, we have witnessed an extremely aggressive assault on moral values. We have seen federally funded abortion around the world, in the District of Columbia, and throughout America. Foreign countries are now being pressured by the U.S. to allow abortion on demand! Marriage and family are also being undermined. At the President’s urging, Congress repealed the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy and thus converted our armed forces into a training ground for sexual perversion. And the current administration has refused to defend the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) that affirms marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently announced at a United Nations meeting in Geneva that the Obama Administration would engage in “…a wide-ranging effort to use U.S. foreign aid” to promote the rights of gays, lesbians, bi-sexuals and transgendered persons. Such immoral policies will inevitably destroy America! We must get America back on the right moral track. ++Liberty Counsel is fighting for the soul of our nation! Thankfully, with the support and prayers of our many partners, God has blessed Liberty Counsel with an exceptional number of milestone victories in 2011. This testifies to the fact that there is still hope for America. But, December is a critical month for Liberty Counsel. We need to balance our budget and prepare for the dramatic challenges 2012 will inevitably bring. The inescapable fact is that we need to raise an additional $500,000 over and above our normal year-end giving. This target may seem illogical during the ongoing recession, but with each of us working together, we can achieve this goal! Your help is more needed than ever before. And in 2011, we conducted many local and regional “Awake” events to educate pastors and concerned citizens, mobilizing them to take effective action. We plan many more such events this year. ++2012 will be a year like no other. In the midst of significant threats to our liberty, in 2012 we have an unprecedented opportunity to greatly advance the values of life, liberty, and family.
