U.S. Navy rescues Iranian sailors from pirates

usskidd

A U.S. Navy ship in the northern Arabian Sea has rescued 13 Iranian sailors who had been held captive by pirates for several weeks, the Navy says in a statement.

The statement says the guided-missile destroyer USS Kidd on Thursday came upon a pirate skiff alongside the Iranian-flagged fishing vessel, the Al Molai, at about the same time that the master of the Iranian ship sent out a distress call claiming he was being held captive by pirates.

A team from the Kidd boarded the Al Molai and detained 15 suspected pirates who had apparently been holding the Iranian crew hostage for several weeks, the Navy says.

The statement says the pirates did not resist and quickly surrendered.

Interesting that the Iranians are making threats to the US Navy when they cannot even rescue their own ship and sailors form some worthless pirates. It's like the wizard of OZ.

Well, the Kidd should have sailed into an Iranian port with the Iranian fishing vessel.

The Iranian people are not our enemy! If Iran doesn't imprison their sailors when they are returned, word of this will spread fast among the people. MAJOR coup for our military. Congratulations. Some day, when the Iranian people overthrow their own government, this will be a story of folklore!

Hurray for our U.S. Navy!! This shows the people of the Mid-East we have human compassion for those that are NON-JIHADIST and NON-TERRORIST! This was a good thing because I am sure were the situation reversed and U.S. Sailors were held captive....they would be in Iranian prison for trespassing just for being American...that's the difference, we free and liberate human beings from Evil whilst Islamic extremist murder, behead and stone to death anyone not following their warped belief of following a war-mongering, murdering, false prophet Muhammed!

Yep, those Iranian Navy dudes are really tough cookies! NOT!!!
They think they are going to keep us out of the area if Obama allows us to go in?! We are not afraid of Iranians, but Obama and his policies, well that is another story. :(
Dittos to 'Just Saying and Airangel' , well said.
Useful observations; 1 boarding a Muslim ship under siege should be done during prayer time. 2 The "pirates" weren't really holding the Iranian crew hostage, they were scheming to defraud the ummah.

We don't need HUMAN BEINGS enforcing the law of the sea, we need CHRISTIANS!!!!

CHRISTIANS!!!! Who understand Iranians are pirates of the spirit in need of destruction as much as the Somali nigs.

A CHRISTIAN!!!! Navy would have killed them all, sunk their boats, then attacked their home ports until they GLOWED!

TAKE THAT!!!! FROM JESUS!!!!!!!!!

First question....WHY? Second question: we're supposed to be scared of Iran because..........................................

Pirates AND seamen were equally hungry and thirsty after so long without provisions . USS Kidd standing off is a sight to behold! Hope someone thought to take down the story the Iranians told of having to aid the pirates in plundering other vessels.
There may be others in need of the Kidds aid. Nice work! Question: what happens to the pirates?

How stupid can we get? Give the Pirates some extra ammo and as soon as they use it blow their rowboat out of the water. Multiple problems solved! For "good" to survive you gotta kill off all the "evil". So much evil so little time!

I'm glad they did the right, proper, and HUMANE thing to do. We are NOT at war with Iran, in spite of the propaganda to the contrary. These were civilian sailors, not government officials. Why would anyone think that we should lower ourselves to the lowest level because of "friction" between our governments?. I'm glad we showed that we still have a sense of morality in spite of our government's best efforts to destroy it.

when was the last time you heard anything about these pos pirates.( and a note on the reporting, are they somali pirates?)
was it perhaps when the US evangelists got executed? if any government or the UN actually cared about a pirate situation, it would have already been handled. they are all waiting for a political reason to do something about, not a humanitarian reason. i agree with those of you who are waiting for the spin of the media in control of world agenda. how about we do something about the genocide of whites in South Africa, and elsewhere?
